The Attitude Era

Attitude Era

The Attitude Era was the greatest era in WWE history. If you have no idea what I'm talking about check out the Monday Night Wars on the WWE Network. You can still get it for free; you have until the end of June. If you were raised in the Attitude Era (like myself) there's a chance you miss it. Even if you weren’t raised in the Attitude Era I'm pretty sure plenty of you miss it as much as I do. Now I know there's no way that era can be recreated; but don't you think they should try? I don't mean they should literally try and recreate the Attitude Era. WWE has great talent now, but base on what I see on social media WWE's content is a bit childish. I believe it's time to open the creative envelope again. According to the Investor Presentation on WWE's corporate website children between the ages of 2-17 are WWE's lowest demographic with 19% making up WWE's audience. Surprisingly WWE's largest demographic are males and females who are 50+ making up 37% of WWE's audience. Males and females between the ages of 18-34 and 35-49 both make up 22% of WWE's audience. With those facts being stated; who else agrees with me when I say it's time for a change? Let's bring back some of the championships from the 90's like the Hardcore Championship. I loved watching Hardcore Championship matches. Mick Foley and Hardcore Holly were my favorite champions. My top 3 favorite Superstars from the Attitude Era were Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, & Lita.

I could rant about the Attitude Era for ages. My point is I believe WWE should switch up their content and target the 18-34 demographic. Why? It worked in the past when they targeted the teenaged/young adult demographic. This is just my personal opinion WWE should go from PG to TV-14. Even if they can't produce Howard Stern like content, maybe they should create Seth Macfarlane like content and make fun of pop culture.
